A research action project led by Jean-Pierre Pinel helped a child protection service to re-launch a process of reflection on the effects of severe disorders in adolescents with psychosocial difficulties. Three theoretical-practical anchor points are set out here: the distinction between a site and a place of integration, the fragility of a dependency evocative of archaic anxieties played out again on reception sites and, lastly, the possible reconfiguration of inter-institutional links in the form of shared containment as a possible outcome for the transformations of pathological links.
