An interesting aspect of the Covid crisis is that it shows the need for human relations that give meaning to our existence. The ideology conveyed by neo-liberalism ousts thought which is sustained by lack. The same is true in schools for children with great learning difficulties. The attribution of meaning through listening to the subjective position of each child is excluded by the systematic application of the protocol with regard to diagnostic disorders. Returning to the genesis of the primary mother/child relationship, and particularly to what could be defined by the phoric function (Delion), I argue that meetings between professionals offer a moment for giving fresh impetus to thought, for subjectivation, which is necessary for fostering an elaboration of complex situations. I will draw on the case of a child with severe learning difficulties at school in order to show the value of these multi-professional meetings in the collective holding of situations.
