Because the sensory message passes through the emotional filter of the subject, who is subject to numerous socio-cultural and affective influences, pain is a complex phenomenon, unique to each individual. While the biomedical model can help in the management of acute pain, it is unsuitable for the management of chronic pain syndrome. The biopsychosocial model allows a better approach, provided that it is based on a synergistic somato-psychosocial logic and not an additive one. The subjective part of the subject is still too often ignored today. This reflection was at the origin of the creation of a pain consultation in a doctor-psychologist pairing at the Saint-Louis hospital within the framework of the medical consultation, thus constituting a real bridge allowing to pass from the painful body to the painful subject.
