Nowadays, the notion of trauma is far from unknown. On the contrary, popular usage has taken hold of it, using it in a variety of ways, sometimes giving it a meaning that is far from what it originally meant. Furthermore, the use of this notion is not limited to the individual level but can also refer to the difficulties faced by groups of people. Although this notion has been subjected to numerous theoretical or purely linguistic extrapolations, it remains relevant in the sense that it assists us in making sense of patient stories that we encounter in practice today. In this text, the author traces the conception of the notion of trauma, its evolution, and its differences in the works of Ferenczi.
