Miscarriage: A Painful and Singular Experience

This qualitative study aims to examine the experience of women who have had a spontaneous abortion. Thirty one women participated to a semi-directive interview. They were met during the day of medical intervention at the clinic. All the interviews have been transcribed and studied with a thematic analyse. Several themes about physical experience, psychological experience, significance of the loss, coping strategies, relationships with close circle and motherhood and future pregnancy were observed. Results underline the difficulties linked to the experience of miscarriage and show the variety of feelings and reactions of women that highlight the need to consider their singular history.
