Thucydides’ Testimony on Naval Operations during the First Stage of the Peloponnesian War (431-415 BC)
Type de matériel :

Seaborne raids are probably the most ancient form of naval warfare. However, scholars generally focus their attention on the naval battles that where fought during the last stage of the conflict and on the 415 BC great expedition to Sicily, while there were many raids before. Thucydides was both a witness and once a strategos commanding a fleet during the first stages of the conflict. Therefore, the Peloponnesian War gives extensive information about the operational aspects of warfare along the coastal and insular areas.
