God, Minister and King: Delegation and Justification of Power in Fr. de Quevedo’s Politica de Dios. Gobierno de Cristo
Type de matériel :

In Política de Dios. Gobierno de Cristo, Fr. de Quevedo chooses to base his argument on a very political interpretation of biblical texts and to focus his analysis on an indictment of the key-role played by ministers, major figures of the exercise of power by the Spanish Crown since the last decades of the sixteenth century. Their status as troublesome elements interposing themselves in the alliance between God, the king, and his subjects raises the key issue of the delegation of power within the construction of a divine right monarchy. Governing without proper title, they even contributed to fanning the polemics on the justification of temporal government.
