Between Embassies and Messenger Scenes: Narratology in the Iliad
Type de matériel :
5
Missions of ambassadors and messengers are two procedures of communication used in the Iliad. Besides having different structures, they are staged differently and are appropriate for specific situations. This paper considers three passages in the poem showing an interaction between the formal codes of embassies and messenger scenes. The analysis will aim to observe their permeability in order to highlight the narratological stakes of the passages in question.
