The “Horrendous Climates” of the Comédie-Française in the Eighteenth Century
Type de matériel :
47
This work studies the impact of meteorological extrêmes and fluctuations in the eighteenth century on the activity of the “Français” theatre. More particularly the use of hitherto unpublished archives of the Comédie-Française such as the papers dealing with receipts, minutes of meetings concerning the choice of actors, expenses and administrative matters, convey in a remarkable fashion the cultural and political consequences of the climate changes of that century on this prestigious cast.
