Black Mass and Blue Sash. Montesquieu as witness at the Court of Vienna
Type de matériel :
27
An enigmatic page of Montesquieu’s Travels is explained: that writer, who stayed in Vienna, evoked a black mass coupled with an assassination in which several dignitaries of the highest rank were implicated, including the French Ambassador to the Holy Empire, the Duke of Richelieu. The affair is clarified thanks to the writings of Barbier, Duclos and above all Saint-Simon and we are brought to an understanding of why, up till now, it has been obscured or shadowed in doubt.
