Investigating access to paternity by a transgender man living with his woman partner, this article seeks to question the current norms in our society, such as virility, the love encounter, parental roles, the assumptions made by the clinical clinician and affiliation to culture. Such families are especially eager to take normativity on board, embrace parenthood and assume the roles of identifiable figures for their future children. The marginality of this form of parenting opens up new fields of research and questions current family-making from a range of perspectives including the psychoanalytic, developmental, medical, biological, legal, societal, anthropological.
