Autarkic Family and Situation of Immigration

The autarkic family is one living according to a myth of self-sufficiency and self-satisfaction. This family rejects foreigners and the society outside the family. This myth is related to the paternal function as this represents the outer world versus the maternal and the family. The immigration condition is likely to increase the autarkic withdrawal. So is the myth of the return to the original country. In reality, this return will not take place. As long as the myth is not made conscious, the situation will remain unchanged. The first ones to be submitted to the requirement of psychical work are the children in the autarkic family. We consider here the case of families from the Maghreb.
