Creative tales - Therapeutical methodology for child victims of psychological traumas

We developed our methodology more than 20 years ago for and with child victims of rape. It was applied once the extent of psychological damage had been assessed through legal expertise. The theoretical process is based on the phenomenology of the subject’s modes of expression, which prove to serve both as an indication of the trauma and in providing the driving forces behind the therapy. The practical approach involves acknowledgment of the universal correlation between folktales and the child’s mentality, weaving a space of transitional fiction as a factor of resilience. Creating tales with child victims of psychological-physical abuse helped objectify the indicators of destruction and, consequently, the signs pointing the way towards the psychical reconstruction of identity. This method offers ten therapeutical anchors based on duly deciphered narrative markers. Therapy through the creative tale can be applied to any other traumatic issue, either on a collective or individual basis.
