This article is meant to show to what extent family is a common area of experiences leading to personalization. The part played by culture within the family and the part played by the family within culture remind us that family is an environment mixing clues, signs and symbols. The latter indicate the active presence of stories and above all of a strongly personalizing imaginary within family. Taking this family poetics into account may contribute to the promotion of initiatives which would widen the scope of intervention as regards to psychoanalytic family therapy.
