Freud’s reluctance to counter transference are known. This point was much worked out later, with sometimes very contrasted points of view that went so far as to place the countertransference at the center of the analytic process. The couple is not a group but can be understood as such, especially in the repetition process in the unconscious alliances. The clinical work with the couples meets in a particular way the intimacy of the clinician, confronting him at the same time with the topicality and with the repetition. Through two clinical examples this article try to show how the work of counter-transference carries decisive advances in couple therapies.
