Axel Honneth and Multiculturalism

Mauro Basaure addresses how Axel Honneth’s works relate to the issue of multiculturalism. Contrary to Nancy Fraser, he reckons that, in fact, this issue is for all practical purposes absent from the Honnethian scheme. He next examines the place multiculturalism could possibly take within Honneth’s theory, but concludes that it is actually nil, so it cannot truly contribute to the socio-moral understanding of the struggle-for-recognition-of-cultural-identity phenomenon. In this respect, Charles Taylor’s works would offer a better conceptual apparatus.
