Cet article porte sur les origines historiques de l’antitsiganisme et revient sur les débats conceptuels qui ont entouré la formation de ce terme. Une étude historiographique et thématique présente les principaux stéréotypes généralement associés aux populations romani ainsi que les divers registres du racisme antitsigane. Partant d’un cadre réflexif et historique fondé sur la comparaison, cette étude dresse des passerelles avec d’autres types de racisme, contre les Juifs et les Noirs notamment.

This article examines the historical origins of anti-Gypsyism and the conceptual debates that surrounded the formation of this notion. By means of a historiographical and thematic analysis, the article presents the main stereotypes generally associated with the Romani populations as well as the various registers of anti-Gypsy racism. Starting from a reflexive and historical framework based on comparison, this study builds bridges with other types of racism, against Jews and Blacks in particular.

Este artículo examina los orígenes históricos racismo antigitano y los debates conceptuales que rodean la formación de esta noción. Un estudio historiográfico y temático presenta los principales estereotipos generalmente asociados con las poblaciones romaníes, así como los diversos registros del racismo antigitano. Partiendo de un marco reflexivo e histórico basado en la comparación, este estudio construye puentes con otros tipos de racismo, en particular el odio a los judíos y los negros.
