L’auteure s’appuie sur une vignette clinique, concernant la thérapie d’un enfant né par PMA avec cryoconservation du zygote, pour montrer le besoin existentiel qu’éprouve inconsciemment l’enfant de recevoir un récit de son histoire. Les biotechnologies, de par la saturation d’un discours médical objectivant, obèrent chez les parents les capacités d’élaboration d’un récit mythologique créatif qui établisse l’enfant dans les chaînons humanisants de la transmission de la vie. L’appui sur l’histoire de Pinocchio dans ce cas clinique a permis d’articuler la carence symbolique à une quête identitaire qui ne pouvait s’exprimer que par les blessures du corps.

The author draws upon a clinical vignette from therapy for a child born by medically-assisted procreation from a frozen zygote, to show the existential need the child unconsciously feels to be told a story about where he came from. Because biotechnologies are saturated by an objectifying medical discourse, they crush parents’ ability to elaborate a creative mythological tale establishing the child in humanizing chain of life. In this clinical case, the story of Pinocchio was the clue that made it possible to articulate the deficiency of symbols with a quest for identity that could only be expressed by wounds to the body.
