Psychoanalysts’ borrowing (as mainly with Lacan) of notions that belong to other fields, such as linguistics, constitute, as has often been stated, a diverting of the original meaning. But that does not mean no principles are involved. The present work attempts to cast light on the process, including in the reworking specific to analytical elaboration.
