Zarifian est décédé le 22 février 2007. Par ses ouvrages, dont certains ont été bien accueillis par un public de non-spé-cialistes, il aura contribué à une large démocratisation du sujet psychopathologique et à une meilleure connaissance du système psychiatrique. Son parcours professionnel comme professeur, expert et chercheur, l’ayant mené au cœur de l’idéologie de ce dernier, il aura porté très loin la critique de celui-ci. Sa mise en cause épistémologique d’une recherche pseudo-scientifique l’a conduit à réfuter le concept même de maladie pour ce qui concerne son application dans le champ mental.

Hommage à Édouard Zarifian. The psychiatry professor Edouard Zarifian passed away February 22nd, 2007. Through his works, some of which were well received by a large audiences, he contributed to democratization of the sub-ject of the psychopathological and to a better knowledge of the psychiatric system.His professional career as professor, expert and researcher led him to the heart of the ideology of the latter. He carried the criticism of psychiatric system research very far.His epistemological questioning of a pseudo-scientific research led him to refuse he concept itself of illness as far as its application in the mental field is concerned.
