L’analyse philologique de la formation du Coran, pourtant limitée à des cercles érudits et universitaires, a été réutilisée depuis 2005 par des réseaux proches du catholicisme fondamentaliste afin de démontrer l’inanité de l’islam. Très présents sur Internet, ces groupes simplifient certaines thèses scientifiques et les diffusent sous forme polémique, prélude à des missions d’évangélisation, dont l’Église officielle se démarque mal.

Philological analysis of the formation of the Koran, although limited to scholars, has been exploited since 2005 by networks close to fundamentalist Catholicism in order to demonstrate the inanity of Islam. Very influential on the Internet, these groups simplify scientific theses and spread controversy. Their aim is the evangelization of Muslims, and the Catholic Church has not done enough to distance itself from them.
