Dans le cadre d’une recherche clinique autour du travail de comédien qui engage profondément le corps, la question de l’extrême a surgi. À travers un parcours, adossé à la clinique, partant de la notion de sublimation dans l’œuvre freudienne jusqu’aux propositions de la psychodynamique du travail qui s’y articulent, comment entendre et comprendre le surgissement de cette dimension ? Que disent, du travail de comédien, ces « expériences extrêmes » ? S’agit-il d’une caractéristique du travail de comédien ?

The question of extremity appeared as central in clinical research carried out into the work of actors in which the body plays an intimate role. Given the notion of sublimation as expressed by Freud, and subsequent concepts taken from the psychodynamics of work, how should we apprehend and understand the sudden appearance of the extreme? What do such ‘extreme experiences’ tell us about the actor’s work and is such extremity an inherent characteristic of acting?
