Après la révolution militaire du début du XVIe siècle, l’art de la guerre fait l’objet d’une réflexion animée qui conduit à l’élaboration de conceptions très différentes de la discipline. Dans une production littéraire où les dynamiques d’évolution professionnelle et sociale jouent un rôle primordial, les savoirs des Anciens et les innovations des Modernes coexistent, liés par des rapports nouveaux que la question de l’espionnage permet de mettre en lumière.

In a field of literature where the forces of career and social mobility played a major role, the knowledge inherited from Antiquity and the innovations introduced by the Moderns coexisted, bound by new types of relationships which the issue of espionage allows to illustrate.
