L’article propose une réflexion clinique à partir de l’expérience de la consultation thérapeutique auprès de parents adoptifs et de leur enfant. Se fondant sur deux récits de ces rencontres, l’auteur remet en question le sens de la rupture de chacun de ces suivis en s’interrogeant sur ce qui a pu dans son positionnement participer à leur échec. L’analyse du contretransfert montre ici que plusieurs enjeux fantasmatiques liés non seulement à l’adoption mais aussi à la stérilité des parents ont pu contribuer à provoquer ces effets et à fragiliser l’alliance thérapeutique : il apparaît dès lors que le clinicien doit se méfier des projections et fantasmes qui peuvent le traverser, ces derniers pouvant avoir trait à sa propre curiosité sexuelle vis-à-vis de la sexualité de ces parents, à la tentation d’évaluer de façon toute-puissante leurs compétences en termes de parentalité, voire de leur prêter des intentions latentes malveillantes au cœur de la procédure d’adoption...

Some clinical issues in therapeutic consultation with sterile adoptive parents and their childThe experience of therapeutic consultation with adoptive parents and their child provides the matter for a clinical investigation. Focusing on two accounts of these encounters, the author brings into question the sense of a rift emerging from each of these case follow-ups and speculates as to how his own position may have contributed to their failure. Counter-transference analysis here shows that some fantastical implications, relating not just to adoption but also to parental sterility, may have contributed to producing these effects and weakening the therapeutic alliance. It becomes clear that the therapist should be wary of his own projections and phantasies, as with possible curiosity as to the sexuality of those parents, the temptation to adopt an omnipotent stance in evaluating their parental skills or even ascribing latent malicious intentions to them in the process of adoption.
