Cette réflexion vise à ouvrir une possible réponse à l’interrogation : « Limite ou échec thérapeutique ? ». À travers la vignette clinique d’un patient reçu deux fois en consultation, cet article se propose d’interroger les éprouvés contretransférentiels d’effroi et de sidération en regard avec son histoire. Des traces internes traumatiques de son histoire familiale entraveraient la subjectivation, amoindriraient son insight. Comment, dans de telles conditions psychiques, un travail d’élaboration serait-il envisageable si le sujet n’a pas une reconnaissance, une acceptation, même partielle, de sa propre souffrance ?

Through the clinical vignette of a twice consulted male patient, the article seeks to probe the patient’s feelings of countertransference of fear and dismay in relation to his history. Traumatic internal traces of his family history would appear to hinder subjectivation, lessening his insight. How, under such psychic conditions, can a work of elaboration be envisaged if the subject fails to even in part recognise or accept his own suffering.
