Nous vivons désormais dans un monde à la fois globalisé et culturellement différencié où les questions identitaires revêtent une importance singulière. C’est sur les différentes manières dont nous pouvons conceptualiser notre identité et nos communautés d’appartenance que sera mis l’accent dans cet article. Après avoir souligné les dangers d’une interprétation « communautarienne » de la communauté qui naturalise l’identité en la pensant comme une essence, ainsi que les apories d’une conception universaliste qui l’ouvre à l’ensemble de l’humanité sans tenir compte des identités concrètes et situées, nous plaiderons ici en faveur d’une appréhension « cosmopolite » de la communauté permettant de concevoir l’identité comme plurielle et ouverte à la différence.

We now live in a world that is both globalized and culturally differentiated, where identity issues are of particular importance. This article will emphasize the different ways in which we can conceptualize our identity and our communities of belonging. After highlighting the dangers of a ‘communitarian’ interpretation of the community that naturalizes identity by conceiving of it as an essence, as well as the aporias of a universalist conception that opens it to all humanity without taking into account concrete and situated identities, we will argue here for a ‘cosmopolitan’ understanding of the community that allows us to conceive identity as plural and open to difference.
