L’article fait le tour des études italiennes des dernières décennies sur La Fontaine pour montrer la vivacité de la recherche sur le fabuliste dans la péninsule. Les contributions des chercheurs italiens peuvent être réparties en quatre catégories : analyses génétiques et études de sources, réflexions sur la poétique et sur les genres littéraires, études thématiques et explications de texte. Ces catégories sont loin d’être étanches et saisissent l’œuvre du poète de Château-Thierry dans l’équilibre qu’elle réalise entre unité d’inspiration et diversité des genres et des influences. Le panorama critique est complété par une prise en compte des traductions récentes de ses œuvres en langue italienne.

The article provides an overview of Italian studies on La Fontaine over the last decades in order to show the richness of the research on the fabulist in Italy. The contributions of Italian researchers can be divided into four categories: genetic and source criticism, reflections on poetics and on literary genres, thematic studies, and close-reading of individual texts. These categories are not in the least watertight and apprehend the works of the poet from Château-Thierry in the balance they attain between unity of inspiration and diversity of genres and influences. The critical panorama is completed by a brief discussion of recent Italian translations of his works.
