The instinct peculiar to puberty acts in therapy, in a brutal, harsh, and unsymbolized way . Acting out is generated by the emergence of new instinctual feelings yet to be elaborated and integrated to the self. The creative ability of the adolescent, carried on by the clinician, makes it possible to sublimate pubertal violence and to find outlets other than the instinctual or sexual. Here, the entrance to puberty and its investments will be symbolized by the “Mystical Animal.”
