The Geographical Issues of a Sustainable Management of the Wild Fauna in France
Type de matériel :
37
The number of tall wild fauna has been increasing in density as much as in expanse in the French countryside for thirty years now. This is due to the evolution of the biotops, the creation of protected areas and the establishment of hunting plans. This phenomenon has great impacts on the management of rural territories. Therefore the amount of agricultural and forest damages such as predation on cattle and fish breeding has increased. Conversely it's of benefit for the touristic attraction for protected areas and wellknown hunting territories as well. These numerous visitors sometimes bother the quietness of endangered species. Anywhere else in the countryside, the hunting management of these inflows raise many problems, from the impossible control of the wild fauna because of the spreading of houses or when the numbers of hunters becomes too low, to the feeling of hostility between local and intrusive urban hunters attracted by countrysides abounding in game. These questions delimit a geografic field poorly explored by now though in full recombining.
