Young Drug Users and Asking for Help

Today in France approximately 34,000 young people aged 17 have problems with the use of cannabis but have never sought help. While the proposed consultations specifically destined for young users opened in 2004 (in the form of young users consultations) partially met with their public, the population potentially concerned by this plan proves much larger than the one actually contacted. From the findings of the ESCAPAD 2008 survey, the article identifies the factors linked to a search for help by 17 year-old cannabis users, and suggests the development of prevention strategies focused on encouraging young people to go in for therapy.
