While some unqualified young adults become bogged down in difficult, unsatisfactory conditions, others contrary to all expectations manage to pull themselves out of insecure situations. Through a longitudinal analysis of the links between changes in the different spheres of life of a sample group of young, unqualified Quebeckers in insecure situations, one can see configurations producing knock-on effects capable of structuring the direction of their lives in a significant manner. A typology of the time sequences at work brings a better understanding of the connection between short and long time spans in constructing the irreversible factors that comprise bifurcation.
