Protected designations of origin for wine in Spain and the theory of worlds of production: A quantitative approach
Type de matériel :
96
The objective of this work is to determine in which worlds of production the Spanish Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) of wine are located and to identify their movements from one world to another. The theoretical framework of the worlds of production has been mostly developed using qualitative methodologies. Here we have tried a quantitative methodology. Based on data obtained from different statistical sources, the work has defined and tested indicators of the two dimensions that define the worlds of production (technology and market) and indicators of the mechanisms of competition between companies (quality and price). As a result, it has been found that PDOs are distributed among the industrial and marshallian worlds of production, having less presence in the network market and innovation worlds. Likewise, a certain location pattern has been detected and it has been verified that some PDOs have moved from one world to another, specially to market and marshallian worlds, which are those oriented to dedicated markets.
