The network of printing and the distribution of counter-revolutionary writings has attracted much scholarly attention. Yet a frequent omission is apparent in most works on this topic: the absence of a collection of significant data about the production of reactionary writings that scrupulously identify the names of printers, or at least, the place of publication. This is a serious limitation, for it prevents a clear identification of different networks, as well as an understanding of the rationale around which the networks of counter-revolutionary books developed. My article examines the role played by Swiss printers in the distribution of reactionary writings in French between 1789 and 1815, a contribution that aspires to clarify this vexing issue.
