From the beginning of the twentieth century, the French Revolution has always been an important reference for the Chinese Revolutions. Recently, Tocqueville’s L’Ancien Régime et la Révolution was vigorously discussed in China. This shows that the Revolution always arouses large public interest. After twenty years of development, the Chinese public, no longer obsessed by the myth of economic panacea, sees the reflection of the Chinese reality in Tocqueville’s L’Ancien Régime: Social injustice and the faults of a political system made more and more clear by economic development. At the same time, one fears that the reform is likely to accelerate the collapse of the political system.
