How is geography involved in energy transition studies? State of the art and ways of deepening research

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2021. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : A bibliographic research carried out in 2019 shows that in recent years, geography, so far discreet in scientific publications on the energy transition, has become heavily involved in the research on this field, so that a geography of the energy transition has emerged. The analysis of the bibliography highlights three main fields of geographical investigation intermingled: landscape-planning-city, governance-actors-scales-territories, geopolitics-North/South relations-development. Some hot issues are tackled in numerous publications: local anchoring and the interconnections of actors, spatial modeling, energy justice, the specificities and comparative dynamics of energy transitions. Scientific debates focusing on these issues underline the need to deepen research to consolidate knowledge and fill the gap. The analysis of publications shows that in a few years, geography, whether alone or in relation with other disciplines, has been able to take an important part in research on the different energy sources, which has made it possible to produce knowledge on multiple geographic dimensions and issues of the energy transition, in a context characterized by interdisciplinary effort.
