First, this article situates François Simiand’s place within the Durkheimian sociology. Secondly, it examines the new developments that he elaborates to account for the economic crisis, and short term economic phenomena for which he introduced new typologies and psycho-sociological considerations, such as expectation, estimation, and interpretation of economic data. Finally, the article takes into consideration his reflections on money, with the relations he proposed between economic sociology and religious sociology.
