The Transformation of Social Representations and Persuasion (ELM Model): The Source Credibility Effects

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2007. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The aim of this research is the experimental study of change in social representations as far as “studies” are concerned. The originality of this research stems from the fact that it is concerned with alteration, in the long term, in central and peripheral systems in a social representation that is to say a month after the experimental step and with identification techniques. The paradigm used here to cause alterations is a persuasion model, the ELM model (Petty and Cacioppo, 1981). Results showed alterations, in the short term, in the social representation when subjects faced a highly credible source and a message that inversed the way of a representation peripheral element. The findings were analysed in the prospect of a global model in social representation dynamics that took into account long-term changes.
