In gestalt therapy groups, group members sometimes perceive beneficial experiences as an ideal disconnected from the social group to which they belong. Therefore, such members think that these experiences are of little benefit in their everyday lives. A gap often exists between the gestalt group and “real life.” After a few sociological considerations and a presentation of the pitfalls of the gestalt group, this article, written by four hands, proposes therapeutic approaches that aim at turning this situation into an opportunity for growth.
