The Passion of Saying

Gorian thinking finds both its source and its sustenance in the passion of saying and the love of language. One can distinguish two major stages in its evolution. The first focuses on epistemology. One of his major concerns was the validity of psychoanalysis as a method and as a theory. Then, he considered the question of the subject in the grip of politics and the anthropological organizations that link the singular and the collective, the subjective and the cultural. This demanded his full attention, as he posed the crucial and highly topical questions that emerge in the face of “anthropological mutations” and “the recomposition” of the systems that allow people to sustain themselves in the world and regulate the ties between them. Nevertheless, in both approaches, language and speech hold a fundamental place. They function as a compass.
