The identity upheaval encountered during the chronicization of pain is major and testifies how chronic pain can be upsetting and overwhelming for the subject. Then, how can we grasp and understand the pain of the subject when it has become a constitutive bodily landmark for him/her/they, in order to support and maintain the intersubjective balance between him/her/ they and the environment, and that from early childhood, as it is in sickle cell disease?
