"One of the most frequent concepts in religious science is that of ""sympathetic magic, "" as described by J. G. Frazer. Although the British anthropologist’s conception of magic as ""false science"" is no longer held, his concept of “sympathetic magic” as cognitive strategy for association of ideas has stuck. This present paper discusses to what extent the category of ""sympathetic magic"" can be considered as a universal category and how far its conceptualization is biologically determined, as cognitive psychologists have argued. Should the reader agree that the concept is not strong enough to be recognized as a universal category, it then ought to be reconsidered as a recognized category. "
