Post-traumatic effects of genocide on children are explored in this paper. Some dynamic aspects are pointed out to better understand the traumatic impact of genocide on an adolescent girl and the complex identity issues which become more complex during adolescence. Some defence mechanisms used by the adolescent girl to cope with post-traumatic pain will be described. Elements of clinical intervention allowing meaning to emerge and identity reconstruction will be discussed.
