Analyzing two clinical interviews, the authors understand the practice of body suspension, consisting in hanging the body from hooks pierced through a flesh, as revealing a lack in the links to the parental objects. Two or more persons are usually involved, usually clandestinely, or sometimes in “happenings”. This innovative research deepens the meaning of this extreme practice, especially the overinvestment of the body, of the group and of the initiator. The initiator may be seen as a parental figure, intrusive but also idealized as a container, in a narcissistic contract.
