When the archaic invites itself into adolescent therapy: evolution of the framework

51
From the clinic of an adolescent girl with separation/individuation disorders, the way in which the group-family dimensions are invited and welcomed “as they come” in the individual therapy of a clinical psychologist is worked out. At the various stages of this psychotherapy, the way in which non-symbolized experiences will resurface in a language of archaic register is highlighted. The therapeutic space thus reveals itself as the place where traumatic experiences of group-family origin are brought back into play, where the patient and her family can progressively benefit from a reworking of the links and a relaxation of defensive positions, as the work of symbolization proceeds. Finally, the adolescent having found possibilities to differentiate herself, she will express in therapy, with the help of a mediation-writing, a narrative allowing her to express terrors and fantasies unapproachable in the intrafamily and to build favorable outcomes to the paradoxical narcissistic oscillations re-actualized in her family.
