This paper describes a scandal that broke out in Egypt on the issue of the wearing of the veil and it shows how this case constitutes a “dialogical network” linking multiple authorities, including the press and the Parliament. First, we define a dialogical network and then we seek to reconstitute the specific network of the “case of the veil,” showing both its specific unity and how it is inscribed within a broad public context. We demonstrate how the dialogical network expands and articulates itself in a parliamentary session. Finally, we provide the detailed description of how a press-initiated scandal unfolds and finds an echo among the benches of the Parliament.
