Droit et Société was created as a journal of legal theory and legal sociology – “ théorie du droit et sociologie juridique”. Presenting itself today as a journal of legal theory and sociology (“ théorie et sciences sociales du droit”), it thus points to possible mediations beyond mere coordination between approaches usually defined in (critical) reference to, respectively, Kelsen and Weber. Emphasizing its intellectual pluralism, the article suggests that Droit et Société calls for and prefigures a space where disciplinary differences can be suspended, not abolished, and where well-established and, constituted disciplines may tendentiously reconstitute themselves through their very relations.
