Corporate Governance and Sectoral Performance: A Reassessment of Good Governance Scores and Metrics
Type de matériel :
28
We review the literature and explain (1) how the analytical foundations of corporate governance have been codified into operational scores and metrics, and (2) how the generalization of these scores and metrics has gradually led to the preparation of databases supporting decision-making by investors and policy-makers. The article offers an empirical study on RM/ISS, the most complete and widely used database in both the academic and business worlds to deal with these issues. The reliability of scores and metrics depends on their capacity to incorporate a large set of criteria, and the firm’s economic sector appears as the most decisive element in the interpretation of the link between governance and performance.
