When psychologists follow Wallon without realizing that they do: Current interest in developmental environments

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article examines how the environment is currently described, measured, and integrated in children’s psychological evaluations or in comparative studies. We first outline proposals for the description of developmental niches and parental implicit theories used in intercultural psychology. We then present assessment scales, such as the ECP (Evaluation -Cognition-PIMD), based on cross-observation of the parent, a caregiver and/or the child (or adult) to estimate the needs of the individuals in their environment. Finally, we investigate the tools developed by the Fougeyrollas team (Quebec). These tools are used to qualify the quality of the environment and the person’s lifestyle by integrating self-reporting of individual satisfaction into their activities and offering support adjusted to their needs. Finally, we demonstrate that, although psychologists do not openly adopt or name it, the conception of the environment proposed by Wallon is represented in eco-cultural, interactionist, and anthropological approaches today.
