Amazigh culture and “cultural diversity”: The role of websites in the propagation of cultural claims in North Africa

This article deals with one of the peoples of North Africa: the Berbers or Amazighs. They quickly understood the challenge of integrating into the digital web to ensure that their cultural and political demands were heard, and to ensure cultural diversity in their countries. The internet has offered them a unique means of fighting for their identity: by adapting to the digital universe, the Amazigh combat has redefined itself. This is the subject of this important article on the Amazigh people, for whom cultural diversity and political activism form a single issue. Using information visualization methods, the authors highlight the existence of an Amazigh “webosphere” whose content they analyze.
