Mediation is a new social intervention profession based on ethical communication and the neutrality of a third party who mediates between people in conflict, or between a person and an institution. This article analyzes a sports mediation practice among young people hanging out at a soccer pitch in a disadvantaged area in Schiltigheim. The sports mediator works to prevent and manage inter-group conflicts. He coaches young people aged 16-25 and directs them toward soccer clubs, thus promoting their integration through sport. This mediation sits within a logic of social integration.
